I would say that rumor is far more likely than not based on circumstances and the magnitude of the game. With the offense being so prolific, I can't imagine there also not being team unity issues when the defense is so awful.
Let's thing about two things for a moment:
Georgia had one of the best defenses in the nation last season and Oklahoma absolutely roasted it with 45 points in regulation.
Texas had EIGHT SENIOR STARTERS on defense and Oklahoma lit them up like a Christmas tree. Just imagine the points if it wasn't for the turnovers? Just imagine the points if the Oklahoma defense won field position batles and forced 3 and outs and turnovers?
I am thoroughly convinced that Riley is the best offensive mind in college football and is only about 35 years old. Oklahoma doesn't need to have the very same on the other side of the ball, just something that doesn't outright lose games for Oklahoma. Oklahoma has simply recruited too well on the defensive side of the ball to be that bad. Do they still need to recruit better? Sure, but that's not the primary problem, coaching is.
