DENTON, Texas — The Oklahoma softball team continued its dominance in fall play on Thursday, defeating North Texas 9-3 at Lovelace Stadium.
The two teams played ten innings in Thursday's exhibition contest.
Senior Caleigh Clifton led the Sooners with three RBIs while Eliyah Flores and Grace Green each recorded a pair. Clifton and Green both homered on the night.
Fale Aviu was 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Jocelyn Alo finished 4-for-6. Clifton, Flores and Green all had two hits against the Mean Green.
Mariah Lopez earned the start in the circle, striking out five of 10 batters faced and allowing just one hit.
Nicole Mendes, Brooke Vestal and Shannon Saile each saw time in relief. Vestal surrendered one unearned run on one hit, while Saile and Mendes both allowed one run.
Saile entered the game with a pair of runners in scoring position, but got out of the jam with back-to-back strikeouts. She totaled a team-high nine Ks on the night.
The Sooners continue fall play on Oct. 17 as they host North Central Texas College at 5 p.m. at Marita Hynes Field.
